MUDAM. MODERN ART AND ARCHITECTURE.

A visit at Mudam is already worth its little store and its café alone - for having a coffee, a piece of tart or just a book. The French designers Erwan and Ronan Bouroullec helped to create a spacious, open relaxation area in Luxembourg's "Musée d'Art Moderne" where you could easily spend an hour or two before, after or in between an exhibition tour. The building itself is a landmark in the city's landscape - just like its famous "neighbor", the Philharmonie. Overlooking Clausen and sort of the door to the district of Kirchberg, it was once built by the Chinese-American architect Ieoh Ming Pei. The style is described as a "dialogue between the natural and historical environment". Globally relevant artists like Thomas Demand (photography art), Marina Abramović (performance art) but also renowned designers present(ed) their work at Madam: The artwork SPACE/-1 by Konstantin Grcic and Nitzan Cohen is permanently shown. Current exhibitions are Su-Mei Tse's Nested and Flatland / Abstractions Narratives #2.

By the way, the art program is flanked by events like art brunches or afterwork nights, award ceremonies like the Edward Steichen award as well as (dance) performances from time to time.
