UM PLATEAU. LOCAL NAME, COSMOPOLITAN GAME.
Walking from the city center down to Clausen, Luxembourg's nightlife district with mostly mainstream and less characteristic places (except the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Sud, the Italian classic Dal Notaro and Maho with its exotic holiday ambience), you will pass this very good reason to stop and stay: Um Plateau (6, Plateau Altmünster). This restaurant - with a bar also for drinks only - is an exceptional place with a Luxembourgish name but a cosmopolitan flair. The stylish yet cozy interior is just dead on. Fabrics, furniture, food - the concept and its presentation is flawless. The architectural home of this trendy likewise timeless institution in town is a historical building that had once been renovated thoughtfully while keeping some old elements like hundred years old headlight windows in the bar area that form a beautiful contrast to the modern lighting and contemporary style of the interior. The generous terrace offers a fabulous view on the beautiful rocks and nature around the Alzette stream - so guests even find a romantic setting for an intimate dinner for two.
The food is for real epicureans: Seasonal specials like foamed salsify soup, beef in port wine reduction and a salty mousse au chocolate with caramel drops wait for you for example. "Evergreens" to share are always a good option such as mini burgers, truffle toasts, grilled scallops or ceviche. Hard to resist, impossible to dismiss!
