A SYMPHONY FOR ALL SENSES. Philharmonie Luxembourg & Tempo Bar.
Coming from the center and crossing Grand Duchesse Charlotte Bridge one of the city’s remarkable landmarks appears: The Philharmonie Luxembourg. Forming the entrance to the business and commercial district Kirchberg, the concert hall attracts attention by itself. Built from 2002 on by architect Christian de Portzamparc and inaugurated 3 years later, it is an architectural icon of the Grand-Duchy. Very strict critics might moan that it's starting to be outdated, however the acoustic is blameless and for music and performing art lovers it’s a favourite place in town. Guest plays by renowned orchestras such as the London Philharmonic Orchestra or La Filarmonica della Scala (check) form annual highlights, but also the local Orchestre Philharmonie de Luxembourg (OPL) is worth a visit. The quality of given concerts is not to be sneezed at. Once per year, before the nearly 3 weeks long summer break starts from end of July on, the OPL gives an open air concert on Place Guillaume in the city center. The traditional happening attracts guests from the entire region and is for free.
But going back to the home of the musicians the restaurant and bar called Tempo needs to be mentioned. Aesthetes will feel satisfied with both the interior and the offer. Whether it’s just enough time for an apéritif with crémant, wine and a fine selection of Tapas including Piquillos stuffed with goat cheese, anchovis and lemon, Oysters, fine cheese or Spanish Iberico Ham or a proper dinner with Entrecôte, Beef Carpaccio, Burrata or Sea Food Dishes - it’s gonna be a feast. The interior with dark fabrics, marble tables, matt golden table lamps Wagenfeld Style, Louis Poulsen lighting on the wall and elegant basket chairs spread contemporary yet classic spirit e.g. of the always up to date Bauhaus era to this pretty place.
