BEIM RENERT. A Luxembourgish Original.

BEIM RENERT. A Luxembourgish Original.

Kicking off the New Year with a classic in Luxembourg’s bar scene. Named after the probably most important and known book by local author Michel Rodange (1827 - 1876), Renert, an adaption of Goethes “Reinecke Fuchs”, this bistro (over lunch time), café (during the day) and bar (at night) is both traditional yet tempting. Wooden furniture, crystal glasses and paintings or drawings of foxes, historic photographies on the walls - the atmosphere is cozy and charming. The young team around host Giordano Bruno knows how to mix their very good gins with the right tonic, the selection of wines and beers is likewise fairly good. During lunch they serve homemade dishes such as an excellent Clubsandwich, meat balls and veggie snack options. The fact that Renert’s generous terrace is facing Place Guillaume and the city hall and is one of the few sunny patios in town (if there is sun, of course) makes it undoubtedly one of my favourite places.
